About LGEAN

The Local Government Environmental Assistance Network (LGEAN) is a "first-stop shop" providing environmental management, planning, funding, and regulatory information for local government elected and appointed officials, managers and staff.  Located at http://www.lgean.org, LGEAN enables local officials to interact with their peers and others online.  In an effort to reach all local governments, LGEAN also manages a toll-free telephone service (877/865-4326).

What makes LGEAN special is a partnership that has been forged by the organizations that compose it.  The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) developed and manages the network.  The partnering organizations are:

ICMA
AWWA American Water Works Association (AWWA)
Air & Waste Management Association (A&WMA) AWWA
ECOS Environmental Council of the States (ECOS)
The International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) IMLA
NACO National Association of Counties (NACO)
Public Entity Risk Institute (PERI) PERI
SWANA Solid Waste Association of North America (SWANA)
  Water Environment Federation (WEF) WEF

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been an especially valuable partner in the LGEAN effort, having provided technical and financial resources that have enabled LGEAN to bring many of its services and information to local officials. Through the membership of these partners, the network is able to reach more than 100,000 local government officials and environmental professionals.

For more information regarding LGEAN, contact lgean@icma.org or call 877/865-4326.

LGEAN is not intended to provide on-site compliance assistance to local governments but to give easy access to information and tools.
